Welcome Back

What a great day back at school.  It was so awesome to see everyone back today.  Yes, I know the school still doesn't look right but the kids and teachers adjusted quickly.  Mrs. Trate and I got to see all of the 6th and 7th Grade Teams today.  I'm looking forward to a great year.

I wish I could show you a video or at least some pictures from today, but my lovely puppy Sasha ate my Blackberry....students this still won't be a good excuse for you and homework.

Olweus Bullying

Today we had Olweus Training. Olweus is a program we are enacting to limit altercations and build positive relationships. Our Olweus Team did a great job setting everything!

PSU Blue White Scrimmage

Took the kids up to Penn State for the Women's Soccer Team's Blue-White Scrimmage.  After the scrimmage the Women's and Men's team did a free clinic.  It was an awesome time.  Kids walked away with autographs, posters, bags, and good times.

Construction Update

Take a look at a couple of our new rooms. We have quite a bit that needs to be finished but we're getting there. Ummm...sorry Mr. H but you're room is in rough shape. However it is serving a great purpose.

Safe Crisis Management

Today Mrs. Trate, Mrs.Locke, Ms. Thomas and I are taking Safe Crisis Management. Basically it's a free day for them to beat up on me. Here you can see them planning how to take me down.

The Wing Man

My kids love when the Ice Cream Man comes down the street.   They can hear the music from The Funky Freezer from two towns away.  Well, tonight my wife and I got just as excited as they do when we saw the "Wing Man" go driving by the house.  We saw a truck pulling a trailer with a shed on it that advertised hot wings.  I'm assuming that it is for home parties.  We felt like the kids chasing down the Wing Man.

Is the Glass Half Full or....

....half empty.  What kind of person are you when it comes to tough times.  How many times have you been in a situation where you felt it was hopeless, or did you use the challenge that was in front of you as motivation to do something you didn't think you could accomplish.

One of my all time favorite  movie clips is from Apollo 13 where Mission Control learns that, after mechanical breakdown, the Apollo 13 space craft will not have enough oxygen to return to earth.  Immediately some people begin talking about how it will be the biggest disaster in NASA history, but Gene Krantz, played by Ed Harris, sees the glass as half full not empty.  He challenges the engineers and scientists to basically find a way to put a square peg in a round hole.

In the second clip, when the challenge is laid out of what they have to do, not one person says it can't be done.  They jump in looking at the materials they have to get the job done!
